Dabu printing is regarded as a traditional kind of sculpting in Rajasthani hand block printing. A blend of desert sands known as "Dabu" is used by Rajasthani artisans to create a mud-resist substance. This unusual form of art is used to leave wooden prints on cloth that resemble mud. Dabu print is frequently used to design classic, archetypal clothing and home decor today.

The colour indigo

It is made of cotton, making it simple to wear on your body.
The material was lovingly manufactured without the use of any harsh chemicals.

PROCEDURE:

To get the particles off the tissue, it is pre-washed and soaking for a day. The material is subsequently sun-dried.
Wheat chaff, mud, gum, and calcium hydroxide are combined to create a smooth mud paste. Each block printing requires a fresh preparation of the mud paste.
After being covered in the mud paste, the wood blocks are pressed against the cotton.
On the cloth where the mud paste is placed, sawdust is scattered. Then it is exposed to the sun to dry. Sawdust serves as a binder.
The fabric is immersed in the dye solution (indigo) and then dried once more outside.

Multiple iterations of the procedure can produce distinctive patterns.
The cloth has finally been cleaned and dried, and the dabu/indigo print is finished.

WASHING GUIDELINES:

Indigo/Dabu material initially creates a blue imprint on surfaces or on the skin. It stops bleeding after a few washes and periodically refreshes the colour after washing.

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight by air drying clothes in the shade after washing separately in cold water with a mild detergent. Iron as needed.
